Congratulations to the Neuro Care team at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center for performing 2,000 thrombectomies and 1,500 brain aneurysm treatments! Wellstar is the leading provider of stroke and aneurysm services in the state and performs one of the highest numbers of thrombectomy and aneurysm treatments in the country. Thrombectomies remove blood clots in the brain and restore blood flow, and aneurysm treatments are surgical procedures to repair a ruptured aneurysm, or bulge, in a brain artery.

Wellstar Health System and Augusta University Health System (AUHS) have reached an agreement to form an innovative, transformational new partnership to expand Augusta University’s educational and research missions, while allowing Wellstar to create a broader affiliation and partnership with the university’s Medical College of Georgia (MCG). The agreement, approved by the boards of Wellstar and AUHS and the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, represents an important step forward for improving the health and well-being of Georgians across the state. We are excited to take this step alongside AUHS and MCG and drive world-class care advances through the combination of community-centered health care and academic medicine. Wellstar Community Health Serves Our Neighbors through Mobile Market We recently kicked off our third season serving friends and neighbors through the Wellstar Mobile Market. Markets take place from March to June, and a fall session in October, providing fresh food, health education, and resources to thousands of community members. Available to communities near all our hospitals, our Mobile Market is hosted outside local faith congregations, community centers, and even an AMC movie theater! Our partner, Goodr, provides a week of fresh, nutritious groceries. The Community Health team shares relevant and timely health education resources. Every Mobile Market has a Benefits Specialist from Wholesome Wave Georgia who helps connect community members with other resources, such as public benefits, to ensure they have sustained support. And it’s all possible because of support from our Wellstar Center for Health Equity and the Wellstar Foundation. We are proud of our team and grateful for these partnerships.
