Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military. Here at Zzoomm, many of our own bright Zzoommers come from a military background, including Reservists. We reached out to Lead Build Assurance Engineer, Colin Dibbert to learn more about his time as a Reservist.
To celebrate International Men's Day on 19th November, we wanted to shine a spotlight on the Men of Zzoomm. One of the core themes of #IMD is making a positive difference in the well-being and lives of men and boys.🧔 👨👦 At our Hereford site this morning, we took our theme as Men's Health and Stephen Rankin gave a talk on Prostate Cancer and Mental Health. Our Zzoommers were then given information about our Employee Assistance Programme along with the tools such as the My Healthy Advantage App and resources to help with the cost of living. Then everyone was given a healthy packed lunch to keep them going throughout the day. 🥪🍎 It is paramount that we continue to make safe spaces for men to promote positive conversations about men's mental and physical health. It's time for a Movember Update! 🧔 Robby Karlstrom has given us an update on his stache. Lets take a look! 🧐 Movember focuses on men's mental health. In the workplace 1 in 6 workers will experience depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress at any one time. It is our job to intervene and prevent mental ill health from escalating. That can start by just having a conversation. It’s not easy to open up when times get tough, or to start a conversation with a friend or colleague who may be struggling. But reaching out and not shying away from important conversations is key to helping men stay mentally healthy. Today is Remembrance Day, a time of reflection for those who have served in the Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice. It will be poignant day for our Zzoommers who served in the forces, to remember their comrades who are no longer here. We will remember them. Yesterday we held our Women in Zzoomm conference at one our partners venues, Crewe Alexandra Football Club Company Ltd., where we got together to actively celebrate the women that make up our workforce.
