What is a Sales Support?

As a sales support associate, you may have many duties like handling the administrative tasks to make sure the sales team is running smoothly. You may be the communication liaison between departments or between sales teams and senior management. In a sales support associate position, it is also your job to help customers and make sales. Sales support Associate's need to have excellent data entry skills. You'll spend a lot of time on clerical tasks such as processing sales orders and answering inbound calls.

You work for any business that requires a department to make sales to its customers. Your primary function is to assist the sales staff by supporting the department in administrative duties. You should be skilled in data entry systems and data retrieval. A central part of your job is to help the sales staff. An entry-level sales support associate usually needs a high school diploma or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities for Sales Support

  • Maintain a cheerful attitude while answering all inbound calls and addressing customer or sales team needs
  • Answer all customer email inquiries promptly to resolve any complaint or issue while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Support sales staff by completing and processing orders and keeping senior staff informed of any issues with delivery
  • Ensure the sales team is on track to meet month-end goals and share innovative lead generating ideas
  • Provide all necessary data to senior management upon request and coordinate meetings between departments
  • Make travel arrangements for the sales team and the senior support staff when needed
  • Establish active communication and engagement with all other departments to help out where necessary
  • Collaborate effectively with the sales team by creating and issuing sales tracking documentation upon request

Qualifications for Sales Support

  • Experience in supporting senior-level management including making travel arrangements and scheduling weekly meetings
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets using vlookup and pivot tables, including other data management software
  • Demonstrated ability to assist sales teams with any additional work as needed with a can-do attitude
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a clear and friendly speaking voice
  • Be strongly skilled in data entry, travel organization and customer service including basic math and reporting skills
  • Attention to detail is necessary as well as being a people person with excellent customer service knowledge
  • Must be able to work every Saturday or Sunday and every other Friday evening
  • Must be willing to arrange your own travel and attend all sales strategy training conferences off-site
