Kick-start your career with our Graduate Programme.

XPO Logistics is committed to attracting talented individuals who want to build a successful career, starting with our two-year XPO Graduate Programme. This programme provides graduates with the perfect stepping stone to explore opportunities within our exciting business. As a diverse company that always strives for excellence, we demand a lot from our people. In return, we provide opportunities for continuous development and career progression – plus a great place to work and a salary to match!

What qualifications do I need to be considered for the XPO Graduate Programme?

You don’t necessarily need a logistics or transport-related degree, but you do need to have a genuine interest in the supply chain industry and have achieved a minimum of a 2:2 degree. Whilst relevant experience is preferred, the attitude and personality you bring to the role is most important. We look for people with ambition and drive who are ready to immerse themselves in the wider business and get things done with pace. We also value self-confidence and maturity, as well as positive energy and a logical mindset.

What does the XPO Graduate Programme entail?

This is a two-year programme, broken down into four six-month placements in different areas of the business, such as warehousing, transport, planning, projects and support services. You’ll be working with some well-known brands, including ASDA, B&Q, Iceland, ASOS and Tesco. In other words, you can be assured of a varied role!

In the first year, you’ll gain operational experience in both XPO divisions: Transport and Logistics. In year two, we’ll develop a bespoke programme that fits your specific areas of interest. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in projects and support services. There may even be opportunities to work overseas, or with some of our customers on a secondment basis.

Where does the XPO Graduate Programme lead?

We want to cultivate future leaders. Following successful completion of the XPO Graduate Programme, you’ll have a good idea of the type of role that suits you best, and we hope to find that role for you in our business. If a suitable position isn’t available, you can be assured that you will have gained skills and experience that will be extremely valuable to other employers in the industry.

XPO Logistics now offers Apprenticeship Programmes in over 20 different areas, ranging from Level 2 to Level 6 degrees, with Level 7 (Masters) coming soon.

All of our apprenticeships are designed to deliver value for the participants and for our business. An XPO apprenticeship allows you to expand your knowledge, skills and understanding of the industry, whilst accruing invaluable experience on the job. By the end of a programme, you will have received a well-rounded, applied learning experience with formal accreditation.

An apprenticeship is no small feat. It requires a sustained commitment of at least 12 months, 20% dedicated off-the-job participation in learning, and in some cases, additional qualifications by an XPO business partner. It is also a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional development.

Under the apprenticeship levy, we offer core refresher programmes on operations, such as LGV Driver, Storage and Warehousing, and Traffic Office. Our strategic programmes have been redesigned according to the 2017 Apprenticeship Standards. These programmes include Business Improvement Techniques (CI and LEAN) and Leadership and Management. Our Leadership and Management apprenticeships span the range from first line managers to senior business leaders.

Additionally, we offer a broad range of function-specific programmes, such as Human Resources, Project Management, and Finance and Engineering, to name a few. These apprenticeships are dual-accredited, which ensures that participants gain a formal qualification as part of the programme. For example, our HR Level 3 and 5 apprenticeships have the CIPD qualification, and our Finance apprenticeships have the AAT Level 3 and 4 qualifications or the CIMA and ACCA.

In true XPO fashion, we are always looking one step ahead – dedicated to seeding future talent in niche and high-growth areas across the business. Our Learning and Development team consults with promising individuals and can arrange bespoke apprenticeships as required.

On these many levels, we are committing to developing the skills required to deliver optimum service for our customers and excellent results for our business.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at XPO Logistics (Northampton, England) in November 2018.

Though a lengthy process, I was kept engaged each step of the way. Relaxed and informative. It was about the right fit for me and the company. Great experience.
