Great pension, great working hours with flexibility

Overall working for the council has it's perks, including the ability to buy additional annual leave and pension contributions

However the management style is over bearing. There is no control over your own workload or duties. There are also no opportunities for promotion

Good pension, modern and well-located office, and some staff very good.

Poor pay, 'dusty' employees just waiting to retire and culture of resistance to any mildly progressive working practices (e.g. was told that 'we tried Agile and it didn't work'). Also, ridiculously over-promoted people just because they've been there for years.
