How are flexible working hours at Smithsonian?

Metro benefits, flexible schedule, overall easy job.

Too much political correctness in the organization and too many Democrats.

Great work life balance with ability to telework. Unless one is in curatorial or advancement, it is possible to have a 9-5 job. Smart colleagues. Some great collections, and you feel good about sharing it with the public for free.

There is a lot of bureaucracy. Getting promotions is slow and may take years, and is not always fair or based on merit. Favoritisms and lack of transparency on how decisions are made. Lack of diversity in most departments. Pay is not great for entry level and/or early career colleagues in comparison to the DC area, but is good if you a have PhD and in comparison to other public museums.

Cool projects, very flexible schedule

Outdated technology, not ideal for remote work

- flexible schedule, good for college students - nice coworkers - good practice for communication skills - helps you be productive and motivated - easy tasks for good pay (selling tickets/concessions, popping/bagging popcorn, and cleaning theater/scan tickets)

- can become busy at times with rush of crowds buying tickets/concessions randomly but after getting used to it, it’s not so bad and helps you practice working under pressure
