What are pay rises like at Varsity Tutors?

require a bachelors degree but pay below average hourly pay for a Bachelor Degree, don't know who the supervisor is, taxes aren't cut from paycheck, tend to deal with inept and distracted kids

The job itself was fairly easy, and colleagues were wonderful, yearly pay raise

No overtime opportunities, increasing reliance on AI and outsourced labor which cost dozens of people their jobs there (myself included)

Highly discriminatory. Flexible hours to a certain extent. Will not let you have any communication with students, teachers or parents past the initial first 24 hours. It’s contractor work but they treat you like something less than an employee. Beware of shadow banning

Incentive programs are inconsistent and changed without clear notice. Communication about pay rates is often unclear and misleading. You are told you can request a pay increase before accepting a student, but in practice, this request is often ignored or delayed indefinitely. Raises that were once possible after putting in hours and building experience are no longer honored under new program changes. If you question discrepancies or policies, you may get polite but non-committal responses with little real action. Tutors are expected to act professionally, but the company does not always show the same transparency and professionalism back to tutors.
