What are pay rises like at Walmart?

      Pros

Flexible hours, benefits, not physically difficult

      Cons

Management, pay is low and hard to get a raise outside of the 2% yearly

      Pros

ppto , good environment, stock, 401k 6percent match, met some nice people there.

      Cons

low pay, hard to get raise no matter how long you been there, if you do get a raise its pennies on the dollar, sometimes you work 40 hrs and sometimes 30 depending on the season. expecting you to break your back for low pay. Only management get paid well.

      Pros

Pro are the coworkers that have a good attitude for what happens here.

      Cons

16 an hour is the starting pay yes, but if youve been here for 5+ years you also only make 16 an hour.. if you start lower then 16 even if youre there for ever they will only make your raise to the new min wage. so a coworker has been there for 10 years and they started say at 10.50 they get like a 10cent raise here and there and then when base min wage gets bumped up thats what theyll make.. so if someone was at 15 an hour and they raise it to 16 but they been there for forever they will get the raise to match the new hires. oh and they dont take doctors notes if youre ill you have to fill out a form and they will judge wether youre approved to get it off also you only have 5 points till they fire you. so youre sick for a week and then you have to miss days off if their sedwig doesnt approve they can fire you for being sick basically... its all bad to be honest and I wouldnt recommend working here to my greatest enemy...

Walmart is ok -- not bad and not great.

      Pros

Have the ability to move anywhere in the country and even outside of the country and still have a job. You have many different shifts you can pick to work and different departments you can work. Due to my work ethic, I feel that I can move up whenever and wherever I would like. Tuition Free College, and some of the benefits are good.

      Cons

The pay. An A+ employee will get the same amount of pay, raise and bonus as an F employee. There is no incentive to be a better employee. The only way to get a significant pay raise is to get a promotion, but what if someone doesn't have great leadership but is a really great employee?

No real employee appreciation, lack of leadership

      Pros

At the time, had what was considered a higher than average pay ($15/hour). Opportunities for overtime during peak seasons Bonuses…..when you actually get them

      Cons

Inconsistent hours, one week all accumulated was 18 hours We got a Walmart sweater instead of a bonus, despite hearing about record profits a few months back Don’t you dare squat for even a second if your legs hurt, even if you are waiting for your turn to do your part of the work. Management will be there to chastise you. Management doesn’t come down the line; they choose other same-level workers that “show leadership” to manage the lines. No pay raise, no other incentives; just management divvying out their job responsibilities Restricted bathroom breaks to lunchtime (which was only 30 minutes) despite break room and bathrooms being all the way on the other side of the massive building. One particular manager was rude and condescending; often tried to make employees feel stupid about things they weren’t even trained on. Reported by many and behavior didn’t change

      Wonderful, Sometimes.

      Pros

Open Door Communication was very beneficial. Learning and Growth opportunities were readily available. Fair pay for entry level work. Very Accommodating managers. Healthcare Benefits are very good.

      Cons

Pay raises were not common, and when told I would receive one for the additional work/ role change I was given I did not receive a raise. The standard yearly raise was %1 of total base pay. Was given manager tasks and expected to complete them without the manager pay or respect. As well as the task to train new employees without additional pay and was not included in my job description.

Worked everywhere from deli to frontend

      Pros

You can work full time or part time. If you want a set schedule they will give you one. Sometimes you can receive extra hours. I personally think a lot of people are "pleasant" to be around at this store on particular. You earn PPTO fairly quick and after 90 days PTO.

      Cons

Walmart often cuts hours during the worst time of the year including during holidays. After being lied to by the people lead Victoria one of my bosses told me it was a common thing for Walmart bosses to lie. I was told I would make more money after I was hired if I accepted the onboarding offer so I could get to orientation sooner. After I was hired, nobody did anything to help me. I reported health concerns about another employee working in food service and nothing was done by Walmart to protect the public health. This Walmart has an extremely high turn over rate, due to lack of employee appreciation and low pay. The raise is a joke, once a year you get a 2% raise, which coaches get bonus based on the budget. Every year it is guaranteed your hours will get cut so coaches get their bonus. The store lead is also known as Darth Vader ; she will speak to you in a very demeaning way if it involves work.
