      Business Development Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at 16” on Center in Apr 2023

      Interview

The interview process was unnecessarily long and convoluted…5 weeks to be exact. First interview was a standard phone screening which, when asked how long the hiring process was her response was, “we’re looking to fill the role by the end of next week.” The following week, I had my second interview with the CFO/Head of Business Development (which he blatantly conducted on his phone which I found to be mildly unprofessional, but looked past it as I was still excited about the position at that time). I was basically asked all the same questions from the phone screening, and I proceeded to ask the same question—how long is the hiring process? I was met with the same answer as the previous interview. The third interview that was scheduled was an in-person meeting with the Business Development team. While this was the most enjoyable of the four interviews, I was able to gather that they hold little-to-no merit in the decision making process for this role. Other than that they were great, but they ALSO said they were looking to come to a decision by the end of the next week. Surprise! A fourth interview with a managing partner and two of the music directors gets scheduled. All three were very pleasant and asked amazing questions as to how I could add value to the team/company. It wasn’t until THIS interview that I was informed that they are exercising a “hire slow, fire fast” approach. If that had been communicated from the start rather than being told several times that they’re urgently hiring, my outlook on this interview process would probably be a little different. Another week went by with no contact and no response to any of my follow-up emails. Finally on week 5, I receive an email response turning me down. In all honesty after 5 weeks of deception, I had lost a bit of interest in the position and the lack of transparency made me hesitant to want to be a part of the company at that point.
