Met with some trainee solicitors before to chat about the process which was good. The most structured interview style of any of the firms. Blind interview so the interviewers go in not knowing anything about the inyervieww

2 situation questions - what would you do if a client needed something done but your partner was unavailable - the answer is do not send anything out without getting it approved

2 rounds of interviews consisting of standard questions. Friendly interviewers that made the interview feel more like a chat than firing questions. First interview was virtual and the second interview was in the office in Belfast.

What is an issue that law firms need to be on top of?

Interview
Two-stage interview. One online followed by a second in person. First interview focused on personal questions and the second on competency based questions. The interviewers on both ocassions were very relaxed and did a good job at making you feel comfortable. The questions were straightforward and what you'd expect.

What sets you apart from other potential candidates?
Interview questions follow the structure of the application. Interviewers don't have site of your application, so can reuse what you already prepared. However, good to have other stories in the wings or be able to tell the ones on your application in a fresh way, as I imagine they might check to see if you just regurgitated your application. As long as you stay calm, you'll be fine.

Question 1
Same as the application, however, they will follow up on everything you tell with some questions about skills or role-played. If you have experience in the legal field, your interview will be about that. Did not discuss college except introducing myself and a story or two I used from those years.
