Role:
The role requires someone with financial or investment banking technology background and hands-on Java based web development experiences to help roll out totally greenfield private wealth management solution. It's almost a completely new team in Hong Kong. Third parties API/Framework exposure would be vital as well, for instance, ExtJS.
Interview:
The interview was conducted with the line manager, with typical role introduction. A session which run through my resume in details, going through current and every single job I worked previously, including internships.
Nothing really technical within the interview session, and no technical test paper was offered.
Whilst people in brand new businesses have unlimited opportunities, I smell management judges people largely on candidates prior working exposures and education. If your ex-boss didn't offer you complex cool projects, what you written on resume would be despised.
Successful candidates should expect there will be quite some of USE CASES associated with development projects. It may be fun for some practitioners unfortunately this isn't of my personal taste.
At the end of the day, strictly speaking this is a Chinese managed business, which largely differ with western values. You know what I mean.
