      Technical Program Manager Interview

      6 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Adyen in Nov 2022

      Interview

I had 5 or more interviews for this role which took several months, for which I received positive feedback almost immediately after the interviews and the recruiter even asked me to come to Amsterdam for the final round. Because they said something like "board interview is more like an informal catch up to meet new joiners, face to face preferred and also you can see the office etc". I wasn't available so I didn't go (luckily). I thought the process was over but they scheduled one last interview and I was interviewed by a straight-faced board member for about 15 minutes, very basic and unimportant questions, and the guy didn't even react when I told him that I had an emergency surgery previous week and still recovering. Anyway, it was kept very short and apparently I was rejected due to answering one question (which was about a past event) not the way in line with the company principles (Adyen formula). Well I had already accepted another offer at that time and discovered that Adyen is not paying well, but judging a candidate's past experience for something he couldn't even know because he hadn't worked for Adyen before is quite ridiculous. The question was about my past and since I did not work for Adyen before I could only tell what happened. I mean, isn't honesty one of the principles? Made me feel like it was a complete waste of time. And also just remember, each company has their own "made-up principles" which no one really cares about or keep in mind when doing their jobs. If that is the case, Adyen should have had that 15 min call right in the beginning so I could have been saved from this process. Anyway, if you are applying to this company make sure you do not tell the actual truth when giving examples from your own experience, just make stuff up to make them in line with the Adyen formula and probably they will hire you.

      Question 1

What do you do in your free time? What do you do for fun? (Yes that was actually asked)
