      Color Matcher Interview

      24 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Troy, MI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at AkzoNobel (Troy, MI) in Apr 2024

      Interview

There were three interviews that I went through, which was apparently just the beginning stage. This process took about 3 months alone (from the time of the first interview, I applied like two months prior). In my third interview, only one interviewer (four part interview) asked me anything about myself. They completely blew over all my skills, did not want to discuss work history. When I brought up my work with color matching previously, they basically said it didn’t matter because they do everything different there. The second interviewer of that day asked me entirely personal questions in my interview and did not hide the fact that he disagreed. Very unprofessional. The recruiter said they would let me know an answer the end of the week. Awesome! On the third week after that last interview, I heard back nothing. I sent follow ups with no response. The following week I got a call from a separate recruiter letting me know, after dancing around the topic for 10 minutes, that I did not get the job. They said “We are finally starting the next phase of interviews” several times before they finally said “and you were not selected” Completely vague for no reason and so unprofessional. This wait process is entirely dehumanizing, as many folks cannot afford to wait several months to just hear a “no”. I am honestly tired of this attitude of employers- what a disrespectful first impression and treats potential employees as if their time does not matter. It’s not that I think I deserved the job, but had I not hounded them, I would have not had heard back. There was no apology on the wait either. Also, they do a lot of work for Boeing so I think that also says a lot about their ethical practices. Avoid working here if you can.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

-If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change ? -What is the most important job to you -How many pets have you had At the end of going over the job description, I was asked “so what did you learn”. So weird. Pretty much no other questions other than the typical “are you easy to work with” and “what is your work style”
