My recent interview experience with the Amwins E&S Division was unfortunately disappointing and left me with serious concerns about the professionalism and integrity of their interview process.
From the start, the interviewer exhibited passive-aggressive behavior and made several odd, uncomfortable assumptions about my personality. At one point, she questioned why I had followed up about a calendar invite for the interview — even though she had explicitly told me during the phone screen that she would send one and I should be on the lookout for it. It was a confusing and unnecessarily confrontational moment that set the tone for the rest of the conversation.
The interview itself felt less like a professional discussion and more like an interrogation. The line of questioning was at times strange and overly personal, creating an atmosphere that bordered on a personal attack rather than an evaluation of my qualifications or experience. I left the interview feeling more scrutinized than assessed.
I was told at the end of the interview that there would be a follow-up round and that I would need to submit two references. However, just two hours later, I received an email stating that the company was “moving in a different direction.” The abrupt reversal — after being told I was progressing — felt disingenuous and pointed to either internal disorganization or a deeper issue with bias and decision-making.
Overall, I found the interviewer to be unprofessional, and the process lacked the transparency and respect that any candidate should be afforded. I would advise others to approach this company’s E&S division with caution when exploring job opportunities, especially when it comes to expectations around fair and respectful treatment during interviews.
