      Marketing Interview

      19 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2020

      Interview

I had a horrible experience interviewing here, primarily because there was a total lack of transparency and communication from Asana's end. An initial phone screen with a recruiter, a call with the hiring manager, a writing test, and finally an onsite. I was rescheduled multiple times for the initial recruiter phone screen, but after we chatted, more than three weeks went by before I heard from the recruiter again, even after she said I'd be hearing from her later that day. I then sent a follow-up that went unanswered. When she finally got back in touch to schedule a call with the hiring manager, I was rescheduled yet again. I did the call, and received a writing test and 48 hours to submit something, a very tight turnaround. After my writing assignment was graded, they moved me onto an onsite. They were very rushed, and requested that I come in that same week. I managed to schedule something on Friday, only to be rescheduled AGAIN. The onsite was 3 hours with 6 people, one of who I wasn't informed would be there. I was told by the recruiter that I would be hearing from her the following Monday, but there was no contact. I sent a follow up email, which AGAIN went unanswered. I decided to send another, more frustrated email almost three weeks after my onsite. I actually found out I didn't get the offer because I searched up the role on LinkedIn and there was already someone who had the title who started this month. They had enough time to extend an offer to someone else, vet the person, and have them start. I would've thought sending me a simple email would take less time than that. Extremely disappointed in my experience and Asana as a company. Interviews themselves were fine and nothing out of the ordinary, but the way recruiting handled my process has led me to believe they don't value their applicants. There was a clear pattern of disregard for transparency and my time To summarize, incredibly non-communicative recruiter, rescheduled (sometimes multiple times) at every stage of the interview, and radio silence after my onsite. Throughout the process, I sent multiple follow up emails that went unanswered, which was very disrespectful of my time.

Our goal is to be as transparent as possible and ensure that you receive the communications you need from our team, and in this case we fell short. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Asana (London, England) in Sept 2023

      Interview

I did two rounds of an interview and then was invited for a third, and then told they had other candidates they wanted to move forward with instead. I wish they had not gotten my hopes up about another interview. Overall, the interview was fairly standard, asking for feedback about how I had approached product marketing previously and about my experiences at other companies.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Asana (USAR Center, NC) in Jan 2023

      Interview

The interview was smooth and focused primarily on my previous experiences and skills in organization and data analysis. The recruiter started by asking about my professional background, so I shared my experience in content creation, feedback analysis, and campaign optimization. She seemed very interested in how I approach problem-solving and manage multiple tasks efficiently. We also discussed the company's expectations for the role, especially my ability to work independently in a remote setting. I highlighted my attention to detail and my experience using project management tools, which I think aligned well with the responsibilities. Overall, it was a positive conversation, and I felt that my background and skills matched their needs.
