Interview
The hiring process at Sydney was intense, but quick as compared to other organisations. First, I applied through LinkedIn and was contacted the very next day asking to submit an online assessment test that had questions on servers, networks, OS, mail writing etc. If you dont know the answers, google them. It will take around 45 mins to 1 hour to complete it.
Next there was an email the next day as I passed the test and HR wanted a conversation with me to know about my job, my skills. I believe this telephonic interview is to test how good we are communicating to them. This is really important, so be prepared. It was a good 20-30 min conversation and at the end of the call, the HR informed me that I would need to attend a face to face interview with 2 hiring managers at their office the upcoming week. The hiring team sent an email asking for a date and time to be blocked. This email has everything about how much time the interview would take and what they expect from us.
I attended the interview, it went on for an hour. Do not worry at all, the recruiters are really friendly and they are not racist at all. They are smiling while talking and made sure I had a good experience. So show your confidence and tell about yourself. Be prepared, practice this at home and then tell. Also be ready to face some behavioral questions (see questions)
Next was technical. (See questions section)
I couldnt make it to next round, hence the HR called and informed the reason. But overall I had a very good experience. Please dont go by negative reviews here, they are very good people. Just be yourself and dont lie even if you dont know anything.
They may ask some tricky questions like
a. if some user sends you an email to add a feature that doesnt exist in our software, how would you tackle the situation?
b. How do you tell the program to cook food, to our software?

Interview
They seem to have a very set process of two technical interviews, a manager interview, and a values interview. Each interviewer followed a set list of questions they were required to ask. They didn't explore any details about other past work experience or technical knowledge outside of the specific questions on the list. 3/4 of the people I interviewed with had been there for less than a year, seems like they have a lot of new people in the support team. The recruiters were good at keeping in touch throughout the interview process until after the 4th interview. I sent a follow up email after a week and didn't hear back until over a week after that. The recruiter then scheduled a follow-up call two days in advance which got my hopes up. Why would they scheduled a 30 min call just to tell me I didn't get the job? Well it turns out that's exactly what happened. They shared some of the feedback from the interview process which was ok. I would have preferred if they just sent me an email earlier to let me know I didn't get it. In the end it was another tiring interview process dragged out for 2 months with no offer. Maybe next time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First technical interview went into detail about HTTP, SQL, API, and a few other subjects. Second technical interview had more scenario based questions. What would you do in such and such situation etc. Manager interview was also scenario based referencing mostly past experiences and situations and how you handled them. Values interview focused on how well you meet the company values. Asked for examples about leadership, teamwork, and other experience. They really emphasize using the STAR method in your answers.
