      Senior Java Developer Interview

      25 Nov 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Atlassian in Jul 2014

      Interview

My worst experience in terms of interview process organization. I've never seen such incompetent HR before. After I had applied, I received a link for an online programming test. When finished, I received a positive feedback and then all the fun started. First, I received an e-mail saying that as a part of second round of the interview process, I need to reply to several questions, that were included in the e-mail. Since the questions were apparently not targeted for my position ("What are the most important attributes in being a successful product manager?" or "What was your biggest product mistake?"), I replied by asking whether they were sure about sending me the correct questions. I didn't receive a reply for a week, so I decided to contact them again and only after that I received an e-mail with apology and that they would like to have a Skype interview as the next step, just with the recruiter for that moment. Therefore we scheduled an online chat for the same day, but the recruiter made a mistake again and mistakenly put a note in his diary for another day, so I was waiting for the call until very late night (due to the time zone difference) uselessly. After that, we agreed to have an interview some other time (undefined) and to add each other at Skype. The recruiter never got back to me again, so after a month I contacted him in order to schedule the interview. We scheduled it for the next day, morning in Sydney, late night again here in Europe. When I noticed the recruiter online, I contacted him immediately at the designed time. He responded by saying "Hi" and not responding anymore. I wrote him an e-mail that I was waiting for him and got no reply. He responded next day asking "I haven't heard from you", which really made me very angry, especially when we agreed on the date and time and he certainly was aware of me, as he responded with greeting at Skype. I don't know whether this guy was a liar or just incompetent, but if they have such recruiters, I can't imagine what kind of people these recruiters hire, so I know I would never want to work at such company. Avoid it if you can, HR deals with the company's most valuable assets (its employees) and if it doesn't work, something's terribly wrong. To wrap it up, I didn't pass the interview, because I wasn't actually able to get to it thanks to incompetency of the HR department of the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The most difficult was for HR to schedule an interview and to send the correct answers for the position, which they failed to do so correctly three times in a row.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Atlassian in Jul 2022

      Interview

Seven interview stages basically: 1) Recruiter call 2) Technical screening on HackerRank 3) Code design 4) Algorithms and data structures 5) System design 6) Values interview 7) Manager's interview All rounds were remote ones. I have an impression that I did great on a system design interview and DSA session, but on code design I was unable to save enough time for advanced tasks and made few code mistakes. As a result, system design was my last interview round. Interviewers and recruiter were really nice and positive, can't say anything bad, except that feedback was just like "sorry, you just not fit this position".

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

Set of questions on HackerRank for 75 mins. 3 small coding tasks and about 30 theoretical. You need to pass at least 50%.

Interview isn't hard, they start with a very simple problem and then build it up slowly. leetcode easy is enough to prepare I found recruiter isn't very responsive and disappears for weeks after promising to call.

      Interview

I got interviewed for Atlassian Bangalore recently. First round was code pairing round. Here you will be given a Atlassian codebase and you have to fix bugs/add features to it. I could solve most of the questions but got a rejection because they were expecting me to use a predefined function which I didn't remember at that point of time so I gave alternate solution which works pretty well. Bad experience overall!!
