      Sales Administrator Interview

      31 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Manchester, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Autocab (Manchester, England) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I had the first interview with them for 30 minutes on Zoom. The interview was easy as the interviewer discussed my CV and the role. However, the interviewer was rude and unprofessional. She turned up late and was unprepared (by her own admission)—red flag number 1. She asked me why I wanted to go from being a freelancer to an employee, I explained my circumstances and was looking for more stability. She replied, "You could find stability by finding an English teaching role at a school". I already explained why I was looking for office admin work instead of teaching, which indicated that she wasn't listening to me or taking notes. I also told her that I didn't want to teach children—red flag number 2. She then asked about my degree and A-Levels, saying they're relevant for a Law career and asked me why I didn't pursue a career in Law. I explained I studied Law because I had an interest in it, the skills and experience I gained from it and that these skills are transferable and can be used in any job. She continued to bring up the Law degree narrative and work in Law even though I told her that I didn't want to work in the legal industry- red flag number 3. She then told me that the previous Sales Administrator left in December, and they've been looking for someone since then- red flag number 4. At the end, I said thanks for your time and to have a great weekend because it's Friday tomorrow. Rather than say goodbye and wish me a nice weekend, she hung up—red flag number 5. It's unlikely I will be invited to the 2nd round of interviews, but the answer will be a firm NO if I am. I refuse to work with someone who's going to be rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. If you're going to treat someone this way during an interview, what are you going to be like when they accept the job and start working for you? I do not recommend interviewing with this company or working with them. If they or a recruiter contact you about this job, RUN!
