      Digital Advisory Manager Interview

      I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Avanade (Amsterdam) in Feb 2022

      Interview

      First 2 rounds of interview were good. The first one with the recruiter focussed on experience and also background on Avanade. 2nd one with head of advisory and principal focussed on explaining structure within advisory, vision and also my experience and aspirations. Had a really great vibe after this round. The 3rd one was a train wreck and a joke. One of the interviewers arrived around 10 min late in a 60 min interview. The questions and comments from the interviewers are best descirbed as vague and a bit pointless. There was no case. When I highlighted an end to end consulting gig with the approach and deliverables , one of the interviewers listened to half the story and asked what the deliverables were again (they say listening is a key skill for consultants). The same person then made some challenges based on preconceived notions about what he thought was my scope of work and when my response was not in line with he expected, he didnt seem convinced, which looked absurd. The entire interview was puzzling and to an extent pointless as it looked like their mind was already made. At the end though, as expected it was a reject and they felt that my profile was not a right fit to the advisory practice. A good interview is when the interviewers ask questions where the candidate is able to express his/her approach, the thinking and the craft and motivations so that you get the right candidate. None of this happened in the 3rd round. This was an example of how not to look for the right candidate.
