I had applied to this position myself once in the early summer of 2014. With the help of an employment consultant cold-calling the company about the position, I re-applied later that summer. After some correspondence with the president by email to set up a time for an interview, we eventually talked on the phone for about 15 minutes. The president asked basic questions about my academic experience relevant to the position (mechanical engineering degree, drafting, drawings, manufacturing), my language ability relevant to the position (ability to speak to a client in Mandarin), as well as recent professional and personal activities. The president was impatient and rude during the conversation at first (cutting me off and asking me to "not tell him stories"), then he became condescending when he found out I was currently working at a coffee shop ("I never want anybody to know that any engineer at this company has worked at a coffee shop"). I was invited to go to the office/factory for a visit but I declined.
