I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at BASF (Research Triangle Park, NC) in Sept 2017
Interview
One-way only interview process. I applied in the career section and then I was asked to fill out a full application including qualifying essay questions. Next, I was sent another email asking me to do an online video recording with 30 seconds to prepare and answer 3 questions that were shared with hiring team. I was then sent a large Leadership Assessment Survey (from KornFerry) that took about 2 hours to complete. Finally, I received an email asking me to fly to their office in North Carolina and do a Case Study presentation in front of a panel, including Skype participant from Europe headquarters. At this point, I have not spoken to a single person, not even HR. It is completely an online one-way recruiting process. The on-site visit had a strict time limit of only 60 minutes total, which included my presentation and their Q&A afterwards. I was never allowed to get to know them or interview them back with my questions. I determined this must be their culture (one-way communication), not healthy two-way collaborative conversations. I also felt the case study presentation was a form of them using me for free consulting on a problem they were trying to fix. Actually, it is genius to set up fake interviews to have industry experts present for free consulting, and then advise they decided not to fill the position. My advice is if anyone asks you to do a case study presentation as part of their interview process, communicate with them to hire you for your potential and qualifications first, then you can help consult. If they refuse, they were only using you anyway and is a waste of your valuable time.
