I applied online. I interviewed at BNSF Railway (Austin, TX) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview process consisted of two separate interviews, each lasting about one hour, conducted with different interviewers. During the interviews, I was asked a combination of behavioral questions about my past experiences and problem-solving approach, as well as a coding test to evaluate my technical and programming skills.

Question 1
What was the most challenging part while working on your project?

Interview
Very unprofessional interview process. The first interviewer gave me a question but was not engaged during the interview. I was told to simply solve the problem, and it seemed like he left the meeting midway through. The second interviewer was much more helpful and gave me an easier OOP-style question.
I was then told that I would be receiving an offer, but after a month of no official offer and being ghosted by the company, I received a rejection letter with no explanation.
I applied through university. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at BNSF Railway (Kansas City, KS) in Apr 2026
Interview
Initial codility assignment after the application (don't change tabs/use AI, they check and will instantly reject you if they even see you change tabs), followed by 2 back-to-back hour-long technical Zoom interviews (with a 15-minute break in between) with engineers, starting with some basic behavioural questions, then one technical data structures and algorithms question. screenshared on your computer's IDE. The engineer makes you show them that you disable the AI on your IDE (I used VS Code, so I disabled Copilot). Engineers do not help you at ALL if you ask questions during the technical section.
It was 1st round 60 min coding, followed by 15 min break and then 60 min of system design. the interviewer was quite decent and helpful person, clear on some doubt when stuck.
