I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BNSF Railway (Fort Worth, TX) in Jan 2015
Interview
it was a multi-step process. it began with a phone interview from a third-party asking STAR type questions. The third party did not converse as much as ask the pre-determined questions and then record your responses. There was also an online test that had some basic math and management type questions. it took and hour. then there was a hiring event in which you do a panel interview and learn about the company. this is with a bunch of other college applicants. there you get a hair follical drug test as well. background check required too.

Question 1
What skills do you have that prepare you for this role?
I applied through university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at BNSF Railway (Fort Worth, TX) in Jan 2018
Interview
You apply online and then do a video interview. If you move on, you are invited to a "super day" interview that includes lunch and an info session about the company. There were 5 college seniors who interviewed for this position. We were told we would receive an email in 2 weeks to let us know if we got the job. NOTE...we were told NO phone calls would be made even if we got the job. Two weeks passed and no word. Three weeks passed--still no word, so I wrote asking about an update. Received a response we would hear in another week. It's been 6+ weeks and still no response, but I noticed they reposted the exact same position two weeks after my superday. Recently, I met a person who interviewed for the same position a month before I interviewed. He was told the position was filled internally, yet BNSF continues to post the position and continues to interview. Several weeks after his interview he received a call asking if he would consider taking a job in "operating" which would result in him moving to Colton, CA or North Dakota. Over all it was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
First, had an application process with a exam that was sort of random but looked at your ability to be organized and think critically. Second, had a digital interview. Third, was asked to come to a 2-day event in Fort Worth where there was another critical thinking exam, time to talk to the Marketing department and then a formal interview on the second day.
