BT Sales Customer Service Adviser Interview

      8 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Liverpool, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at BT Group (Liverpool, England) in Aug 2015

      Interview

Through MANPOWER - telephone interview, then 2 online assessments. Invited to BT Lancaster house, Liverpool for interview. Spent one hour completing all relevant paperwork before attending. At interview - was placed with adviser to listen in to calls. Back at interview room was asked the same old competency questions that have been doing the rounds for years. BT interviewer did not bring much to the interview process, he seemed to let the Manpower interviewer take the lead. Both made notes. Asked questions such as " tell me about yourself in 3 words" "tell me about a time you had to work under pressure and how you dealt with it" I really wish Companies would find a new way to interview. After a few interviews you have stock responses to these boring questions - so it's hard to keep responses fresh and spontaneous ! The sales adviser floor was relaxed. I am worried about how I will cope being tied to a Computer and headset for hours and hours again. It's one of the most uninspiring jobs in the world. It is 'Factory work' in an office setting, so don't kid yourself it's anything else. In light of this, the interview process is laborious and unwarranted for such a basic position. I can only guess it's a smoke & mirrors way of making the employer think they have landed an important job.
