I applied online and then reached out to someone via my Linkedin contacts. They reached out via phone to set up the interview. I had the preliminary HR interview. It went well, so they scheduled a skype interview with the team I would be working for.

They asked me the difference between buy side and sell side research and why I wanted to work in buy side. I honestly think they're pretty similar.
