      Insurance Sales Agent Interview

      2 Jan 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Myerstown, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bankers Life (Myerstown, PA) in Nov 2017

      Interview

I had a group sit down in an office and I was then contacted by the company for an interview after that meeting. I had a one on one interview and received a follow-up call and I thought I had received the job except that I had to pass an insurance license exam (for selling health, life, and accident insurance) before I could receive training from the company to sell their insurance. I then came in at a later date to enter information into their computer system and pay for a tutor system that was supposed to help me pass the licensing testing (I had to pay for the licensing tests too). I tried to rush through the tutor system and I failed the exam. I then tried to study the tutor system again but again failed the exam, with an improving score. I guess I took too long to try and get a passing grade on the exam and they withdrew their offer. The thing that aggravates me about it is that they made me pay for the tutoring system and it was mediocre at best. My guess is that people that take the licensing exam memorize the questions and then generate the tutor program from the memorized questions (which is a solid business idea, why not sell your knowledge of insurance?). The tutor system did not exactly match the test but most of the concepts had been covered by the tutor system that were on the test. It's not like I went to school for an extensive amount of time to do this so it was a good opportunity it seemed but it didn't work out. I liked the tutor program but it was very long, they recommended ten days to complete it, and when I say ten days, I mean setting aside a legitimate four hours a day for ten straight days and then expect to pass the test with a 75% (you need a 70% minimum). But how long I would need to study every day was never disclosed to me. It was also difficult to contact them about the testing procedure for some reason (perhaps they are out of the office doing sales more often than they are in the office?). Sadly it was a waste of time on both our parts and I'm sad it did not work out due to their lack of patience or my lack of insurance knowledge. Perhaps I can try to convince them to let me on or I can pass the exam and work elsewhere.

      Application

I interviewed at Bankers Life (Houston, TX)

      Interview

Very informative group interview. The company seems to have a great open door policy. I'm interested in seeing the future holds with this company. The training bootcamp seem to be a bit over kill but I'm sure I could use all of the training that's offered.

      Declined offer

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bankers Life in Jul 2024

      Interview

First thing to do when I get there is write down if I know anyone else who wants the job and their contact info. Then in the actual interview, there were barely any questions about me. I was the one asking the interviewer questions. Didn't really find out much about the company or average day of work. All they did was tell me how rich I can become if I work hard enough. Hmmmmmm..... seems like a MLM.
