      Desktop Support Analyst Interview

      28 Oct 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Charlotte, NC
      Accepted offer
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Barings (Shanghai, Shanghai) in Sept 2020

      Interview

First of all I had a great first impression and conversation with first round of interviewer . They are humble, friendly and showed cares about its candidate. However it came out to a completely different story when I met with Shanghai's crews. Here are some takeways from meeting with Barings Shanghai team. 1. I arrived at the front door of the company around 2:25PM and tried to reach the frontdesk however I couldn't connect with her. Finally I dialed her cellphone and I was informed that she was on the meeting at time (didn't she realize that she and her crews had an interview with me at that time?). Then she asked the clean lady to open the door for me. 2. She brought me in without offering me a cup of coffee, tea, or water at first considering the temperature of Shanghai on that day was 36 celsius degree. 3. Then, the first group of interviewers came in and started asking me the questions directly. Noticed that one of the gentlemen played his cellphone while I was speaking and answering their questions that I never seen any interviewer behaved like that before. 4. Some questions from the second group of interviewer were repeatedly asked like "You never had experience with any financial institute why you want to work here?", "I don't see any financial background from your resume.....", "You seemed to not fit here....." Well, shouldn't they have a chance to take a look at my resume before the interview? Didn't anybody inform them that I have little financial industry background in my past experience? Very rude and unprofessional. 5. One of the questions that was beyond my imagination from the third group of interviewer "You stayed in the U.S. for many years, so you should have the U.S. green card? Right? How?" I was totally shocked, in my observation this is such a personal and private question that I don't think they deserve to know let alone asking the candidate! It shows how immature and ignorant the person is! Meanwhile, one of them also played with the cellphone while I was talking. 6. Last interviewer was nice and she admitted that the description of this position is a bit differ to its actual responsibilities in Shanghai's office. She elaborated the function, obligation, expectation, scope of the office and also gave me a comprehensive overview of the Shanghai team crews. She indeed showed respect to the candidate and behaved very professionally. Last feedback for the Barings Shanghai team: RESPECT AND APPRECIATION

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Barings (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

Interviewing with Barings was different than most interviews I have gone through. They brought me into one of their conference rooms where I first met with the manager of the team and got an overview of the company and position and discussed my background. Once this was complete, the entire team locally had the opportunity to come meet me and for me to meet them. I specifically enjoyed the opportunity of meeting the entire team.
