      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Beaconfire in Jan 2023

      Interview

Was messaged by a recruiter on LinkedIn regarding a Full-stack MERN opportunity. Was interested because they only gave a single page pdf about the specs of the position and I've had no luck so far regarding interview opportunities. Emailed them and they responded the next day to set up an initial phone interview. They called at the designated time we set up and phone call lasted about 30mins. Basic questions were asked and they just spoke more about their company model. They're basically similar to companies like Revature and what not where you're bound by a contract, take a bootcamp for 6ish weeks covering full stack mern/mean development, then you would basically have a period where they try to put you with a client where you will have to do another interview with them to actually get the gig. The contract is for 1 year compared to Revature's 2 year contract. Red flag for me was that they cheat your resume to make you seem like a mid-senior dev with experience, and I did some researched and heard those who don't pass the client's interview are basically stuck doing nothing. They also advertise the position as $65k-$80k but in reality, you start out at $60k and have a possibility to get a performance bonus of $5k. Then the second year you get bumped up to $80k (if you decide to stay). They also will require you to live in New Jersey (bootcamp is remote), and then if you actually succeed in landing a client role, there's a chance that client is located in another state which you will have to relocate to. Their benefits seemed better compared to other similar companies that practice this business model, but they may be just bait. They're mostly meant for international people due to them providing H1B/visa. The company also consists mostly of Asian people, especially those from overseas based on my quick research. Decided not to proceed with the rest of the interview process, which consists of a OA assignment consisting of 2 questions to be done in 50mins, then a technical interview with 1 question and for you to talk about your technical projects and skills (they give a prep doc for you to prepare beforehand) to be done in 30mins (15min on the Leetcode question and 15min talking about your projects).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Tell me about yourself. 2. Tell me about a recent project that you worked on. 3. What is the DOM? 4. Have you worked on Leetcode/Hackerrank or similar technical interview prep? If so, how many questions have you completed so far?
