The announcement for the job of a programmer was posted on 10-2023. I applied for it and a month later, at the beginning of 11-2023, I received an email saying that I had to go to the bibliotheca to do a technical test.
About technical interview:
it was divided into two sections. The first section included simple, multiple-choice questions on the computer and were about programming principles, the most important of which were OOP and Data Structure, especially the stack, and also some questions about Databases. The second section, they gave us a paper with 3 questions about writing codes, such as calculating the largest number and the smallest number in an array.
I passed that technical interview and it was fairly easy. A week later, they sent me an email telling me that I had qualified for the preliminary interview.
About preliminary interview:
It was also inside the bibliotheca, but in another place. I entered there and the interview was supposed to be at 10:30 AM, but after a long wait they came. When I entered the interview hall at 12:00 AM, there were three people there, most likely department heads, and they asked me three questions at the difficult and very difficult level, I answered professionally in 2 out of 3 questions. After I finished the interview questions, They told me that their strategy is 2 interviews, one is technical-currunt interview- and one is HR -the upcoming interview. After 5 days I received an email telling me that I'm qualified for the interview(they don't mention that is the final interview but after that I knew that this is the final one).
About Final interview:
There was about 6 or 7 people, I was wondering why all of these people in a HR interview. one of them asked me to introduce my self, then booom he asked me a very hard technical interview, what a bad day, of course I wasn't prepared to answer (Even if i was prepared I wouldn't answer this type of question in only 3 minutes-question time-), then another person asked me Average question and I answered it professionally and the interview finished.
I wait for 2 weeks, with no response from them, then I send an email to ask about my recruitment process and they didn't respond to my email. I knew from one of the people who works in the bibliotheca that they hired people already, then I asked him about my process, and he tells me that Bibliotheca Alexandria doesn't hire people who lives outside Alexandria, and I'm from Cairo so they can't hire me, I certainly uttered the most horrific words at that moment.
Why they didn't tell me that by email or even the first interview, I don't know.
It is certainly one of the ugliest and dirtiest organizations ever, so I do not advise anyone to apply to it
