I applied through university. I interviewed at Brightedge Technologies (Foster City, CA) in Apr 2021
Interview
The interview process for me at BrightEdge started out well, but by the end, it was by far the worst process I have ever gone through. The process took about a week so the company was moving very quickly. The recruiter was very nice, but I noticed several red flags in the beginning that I brushed off. First, I was told I had to complete an analytics and personality assessment. The recruiter had essentially given me the answers as if they were trying to hit a quota. They also continued to call me 2-3 times a day for 5-10 minutes at a time rather than schedule one block of time or emailing/texting. Additionally, I was told to really emphasize that I wanted to make money, which I found bizarre since that’s typically taboo in an interview.
My first two interviews went well and the people I talked to were really nice. I was very confident I would land the job, and the recruiter kept saying I had nothing to worry about. However, my final round interview was where things went sour.
The recruiter called me to give me last minute tips saying this was the guy I really had to impress. I thought the interview went well, and was hoping to get a decision back by that day, as they said they would. The recruiter texts me afterwards saying that I passed my interview, and would have another final that day or the next. I was very confused as the one I just had was supposed to be my last interview.
Final final round comes around, and I am asked for 15 minutes why sales. Every answer I gave wasn’t good enough, even though all were personal to me and why I was interested in going into sales. The interviewer I talked to really rubbed me the wrong way and it showed that the company cared more about whether you could make them money rather than developing their new SDRs into AEs. Place seems like a sweatshop. I looked at the reviews for BrightEdge before interviewing and I ignored them. Please please please do not go through this process; just read the other reviews.

Question 1
- Why sales?
- Why BrightEdge?
- If a prospect on the phone objects with this, what would you say in response?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Brightedge Technologies
Interview
The first calls were good with lower-level managers. Very nice and friendly but it was obvious from the start this would be a job where you are heavily micromanaged. Get with the times, nobody wants to be stuck on camera all day with someone watching their every move. The final interviews with Sr Execs were very intimidating and made a couple of belittling remarks which made me feel very resentful towards the company. There seems to be really good money here but not at all worth it if you're selling your soul to make 100+ cold calls a day for a company with a toxic culture and boring tech. Don't waste your time interviewing here

Question 1
How did you fit in with your peers at your previous job
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Brightedge Technologies (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2021
Interview
Absolutely terrible interview process. I was contacted by an internal recruiter to which I made myself available the same day to connect. I was not asked a single question about my skills or work history. The only valuable knowledge I gained from the interview was that BrightEdge has hoverboards in their offices. As someone who has been tirelessly applying to jobs after being laid off due to covid I am completely disheartened by the process of this company. After finishing up the call, I was contacted no more than 20 minutes later with an email that my interview was already discussed with the hiring manager. It seems like a recruiter was trying to fill a candidate quota with no intention of moving someone forward and my time was wasted in the process. Please changed your practices.
