I received an initial phone call from their in-house recruiter regarding my application. This precipitated a series of phone-tag rounds between the recruiter and myself before establishing contact. Most companies send initial outreach via email for this reason alone - to avoid the back & forth calls and voicemails. This was a bit of a red flag. The recruiter was definitely 'old school' but very friendly and eager to answer any questions during the pre-screen call. I then had a virtual interview with a department manager a few days later. The recruiter and department manager both made it a point to diplomatically state that the company has a more "traditional" approach to workplace dynamics. In this case, that translates to "we do NOT allow working remotely". They want bums in seats 5 days a week - no exceptions. This is a policy that is undoubtedly scaring away large numbers of potential hires in their I.T. and analysis sectors. It's a family-run business and apparently the CEO likes to drop by and socialize with employees throughout the workday. This was sold to me as a "perk". Everyone I interacted with was legitimately friendly and helpful, but I encourage anyone applying to CTDI to carefully consider the "no remote allowed" and family-run dynamics when applying.
