      Sales Engineer Interview

      3 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Raleigh, NC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CaptiveAire (Raleigh, NC) in Jul 2024

      Interview

I spoke with two HR representatives on the phone separately at length before getting an in-person interview. I found another open position at the company that better suit my skill set prior to the interview. I asked her if I could be considered for that position too and she said the pay was the same but it required more work and dropped it. I got the impression she either wasn't responsible for filling the other position or wanted to fill the one I originally applied for more. The in-person interviews were interesting. I waited almost ten minutes after I got there on time for my interview for the first person to see me. People are busy, I understand. I'm unclear why someone from HR didn't greet me when I arrived though. I met with three people, the first I felt I had a good rapport with and learned a lot about the day-to-day tasks. The second person was nice enough but I was taken to his office which had children's toys strewn across the floor. Didn't get the impression he was truly engaged with interviewing me, felt more like he was asked by the others to kill time until the third person was available. Third person was okay. One thing that put me off was I learned it's best not to ask questions, especially to the higher ups. I was told if I needed to contact an application engineer for information, I had to have my boss send the email because they're super busy and easily annoyed.

      Question 1

If you could create your perfect job, what would that be? What would your day-to-day look like. I was asked this by two if not all three interviewers; seems this is an SOP question here.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CaptiveAire

      Interview

1st Interview - with HR rep, just an overview and some personal questions 2nd Interview - with another HR. Very similar to the first. not sure why both are needed. 3rd Interview - with the sales manager of the region i think. More technical questions, how this works or do you know why we use this? Then talked about company culture and whatnot. I thought it went really well and the 3rd interviewer talked to me about setting up a final interview. 2 days later i got an email saying i didn't get the job before i even had a final interview.

      Raleigh, NC
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CaptiveAire (Raleigh, NC) in Sept 2015

      Interview

I interviewed in person with the founder and CEO. We connected on many topics including ethics, which he preaches. Everything was perfect. Training went swimmingly. Many trainees are now my friends, and the trainer praised my performance. They waited for me to sign my transfer contract to fire me and get away without explanation. there are no words but evil.
