Fundamentally, I should have known from the interview that I was a bad match. The interviewer, my boss, spent the entire meeting looking at the clock. And the questions he asked showed that he had limited experience supervising professionals. CPS bureaucracy is so convoluted that I had to walk all my paperwork through several offices over several weeks just to secure an offer. And, as it turned out, they never should have advertised the job anyway. I still got it, but left a year later.

The process was transparent and welcoming. Questions were straightforward. Be sure to know exactly what your work process is and ask what the team's strategy is. It was clear that direct skill transferability is a top priority over relevant industry experience.
