I interviewed at Chicago Public Schools (Dallas, TX)
Interview
Interview was amazing. However, CPS HR is a mess. The whole onboarding process is ridiculous. Took almost 1 month to get my start date. They make you pay for the TB and Drug Test ($60) College Transcript ($20) and Background Check fee. Also, you must get all your certification fees through ISBE ($200).

I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Chicago Public Schools (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2014
Interview
Very Lengthy process. Had 2 interviews to start, one of which was a group interview that lasted almost 4 hours. After group interview then there were short individual interviews. Following the interviews, I was called in to teach a sample lesson to summer school students. Once I completed my teaching lesson, I was then called back for another interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Chicago Public Schools (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2011
Interview
In recent years they've incorporated a district-wide emploment system. If you know someone, i.e. Principal, they can hire you directly by pulling your info and staffing you thru HR. If you are a new teacher, expect to go thru a lenghty hiring process. Teaching a lesson, meeting with multiple educators, creating lesson plans.
