      Architect Interview

      22 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Clustr

      Interview

This is pretty much HR Driven company it seems from the personal experience. It took almost a month from initial discussion and finally they took excuse of HR round to deny the offer! First round was told to be telephonic where Director spoke about the company and work culture and seemed nice person. Finally I was asked to come in person on Saturday and there were 3 tech rounds which were pretty straight forward and nothing difficult as such. However, I was told by HR that co-founders are not present and will arrange a conversation with them. I expected telephonic round but they asked me to come in person again which could have been completed on the same day. It took another week and HR told that everything went fine and we will initiate the process. After few days, I was asked to provide payslips and background verification form with references from previous employers !! I was stunned since HR did not even speak to me and shot an email saying we will do background verification even before rolling out the offer!! I was quite pissed off since after spending two weeks now they are coming up with this ridiculous excuse and asked HR about clarification and was frustrated with entire delay and excuses for not rolling out the offer! After my mail, HR calls and tells it's just for the record and will not do any background verification until I accept the offer so I agreed and sent documents. Again after couple of days, HR says there will be HR round with HR Manager and I knew the result already since it was just a gimmick to decline the offer and buy some more time probably to interview other cheaper candidates. I was not bothered about offer then on as I was already frustrated. I started thinking, if co-founder after meeting for about an hour cannot make a decision about one single candidate, how can they run the company alone! Or is it just a label and company is run by parent company only? This was my second HR round (yes!!) after my first job as a fresher because HR rounds are removed since long in the process as it was considered to be waste of time. HR started asking me all typical ridiculous questions that why you are leaving your company so soon and you are not stable and all that dumb questions which were already discussed multiple times earlier. My question to them is if stability and all other aspects were so important for you then why did you not flagged it earlier? Why you wasted a month for one candidate when your recruiter bags and pleads to appear for the interview? In startups, things move lightening fast and decisions are taken on the spot because startup is all about taking risks and moving fast! If they would have completed the process on the same day and rolled out the offer quickly then I would have joined on the existing CTC because it was never about money but the moment they started acting smart with all ridiculous demands, I decided to give them my piece of mind. They made it look as if I was being hired for some premier organization and they are doing a favor. This whole experience made me think that how critical HR's role in the entire hiring process because only differentiating factor here was HR experience for me else would have definitely accepted any offer from them since I was more focused on people and work but it was badly screwed up from the beginning!!
