I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CommSoft (Tiptree, England) in Jan 2019
Interview
Overall a positive process, despite the fact that I didn't get it.
The interview began with a technical test, which in a reasonable depth went over JAVA/SQL/ORM based questions. Given my discussion with a recruiter beforehand, they knew coming in that my skills in those areas were not as high as others, that said, they were welcoming and allocated me a room and 45 minutes to do the test on paper.
After that, it was an interview with members of their development team and one of the technical directors. We ended up speaking for an additional hour and 10-20 minutes, wherein we discussed the test, the technologies in place and where they wanted to move forward onto.
Overall, I realised throughout the interview that I likely was not nearly trained to what they would require and that any investment in me, would require a thorough training. In the end, they turned me down, quite rightly. But it was a positive experience overall.
