You are tested on wpm with them expecting a very low error rate, spelling, and grammar. Unable to miss more than 2 out of 40 questions and they will not budge on that.

Was greeted, called the wrong name three times, immediately sat down and went into the tests. I had to repeat the recordings as they were being said. I told the person who was testing me that I couldn't hear the recordings very well, but they said the volume was as high as it would go. I was straining to hear the recordings and got the "test" recordings correct because they were slower and I could concentrate on them enough to hear them. With the "non-test" recordings, they were a bit louder, but I still had trouble hearing them. They were, however, faster so I didn't have time to strain to hear them and try to focus on the words in order to repeat them back. I still tried to repeat as much as I could. The person in charge of the tests was typing while I was doing the tests. The next test was one in which I had to listen to a recording and circle errors on a paper. That recording was still too quiet and I obviously failed. One look at the first couple sentences and the person told me that "unfortunately" I wouldn't go to the next phase due to how I did on finding errors in the last recording. As I went out to my car, I noticed I already had an email from the person doing the tests and from the timestamp, it had been sent around when I was still trying to repeat back the recordings before I had even listened to the error test. I was frustrated by this experience because as an organization for the D/deaf and HoH community, I would think they'd have accessible equipment. I didn't want to "out" myself during this "interview" process, but I'm disabled and have a TBI, which has left me with some hearing loss. It's not enough hearing loss to impact most daily activities, but I usually need electronic devices to be set to louder settings. I wanted to work with this organization because I understand some of what the D/deaf community goes through (and funnily enough, this experience is just one of those things), but I was denied that opportunity based on a disability I didn't feel comfortable disclosing because it affects me beyond just a little hearing loss. It stung even more that it was decided WHILE I was still being tested. I can apparently reapply after 90 days, but this experience has been so negative and disheartening as a disabled person applying to a company that helps disabled people.
