Declined to continue due to one-way video interview for senior role.
I applied for the Director, Partnership Enablement (Pacific Region) role and was pleased to be shortlisted. However, I chose to withdraw from the process when the next step required completing a one-way video interview via Spark Hire.
For a senior leadership role built around relationships, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal communication, a one-directional recorded interview felt inappropriate and impersonal. There was no opportunity for dialogue or follow-up questions, and it did not allow for a genuine exchange on fit or expectations on either side.
I attempted to raise this concern with the listed “24/7 application support” email but never received any response. I was also unable to find a direct HR contact to discuss an alternative interview format.
While I appreciate the need to manage volume in recruitment processes, this approach felt poorly suited to senior partnership roles where human interaction is fundamental. Ultimately, the interview experience led me to withdraw from the process.
