I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at DigitalOcean (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
I was pretty chill, was asked about how I would design an observability stack for servers in data center. There were questions, but it is mainly about how I am thinking and my approach.

Question 1
How would I keep myself upto date with recent changes
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at DigitalOcean
Interview
Very smooth and simple process! my favorite process of any company I have interviewed for. The interviewers seemed genuinely engaged and interested in my experience compared to other companies I have interviewed for. No unnecessary irrelevant tech questions
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DigitalOcean (New York, NY) in Apr 2019
Interview
2 rounds of interviews, both relatively short (only talked to one person each time), both over video chat
First round: technical, medium difficulty Cracking the Coding Interview-style questions
Second round: technical and behavioral, with more abstract technical questions - talking through how you would handle particular scenario, rather than live coding
I had a deadline for another job, which they were very accommodating of, with only a few days of turnaround between each step of submitting my resume, the interviews, and getting a decision.
The people who interviewed me were my future mentor and manager, which was nice. My only complaint is that it's hard to feel totally confident you'll like the culture of a company without an on-site interview experience.
