I received an email invitation to attend an interview with a set date and time. I don't personally like being given a set time for an interview without communication or a choice but I know some places do this.
I arrived for the interview early and a colleague told me to wait near checkout. It was quite busy and a few customers mistook me for a manager which was fine but it was awkward and I was left waiting for 10 minutes without anything being said. The colleague noticed and tried to radio in the manager but they didn't respond so I was still waiting until they arrived,
Unfortunately this is where I was a bit disappointed... The manager apologised for the delay as I 'hadn't confirmed the interview'. The email I received did not ask for confirmation, it just stated a date and time with no links or further information. I tried to apologies and explain as we walked to the interview but they ignored me and didn't take any accountability or notice to this.
Not just that but the interview was in the middle of the cafe. I'm use to interviews being in an office but it wasn't too bad though a cafe is easily distracting and since it's a public space, it's not quiet or private enough for an interview and I felt a bit overwhelmed, though I pushed on.
Still, to not acknowledge my apologies or concerns about a situation I had no knowledge of felt very dismissive and unprofessional.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Dobbies in Oct 2017
Interview
It was a very formal interview. I went to the shop where I was asked the very basic questions. Although manager was polite and friendly which made the process easier. Overall I had a good experience,
