I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Dollar General (Boyne City, MI) in Dec 2015
Interview
I applied online and went in to talk with the manager to let her know that I applied for the job and to add a face to a name. We talked after she found my information in the system and set up an interview for the next day. I showed up early for the interview, which impressed her and we started right away. She asked me a series of questions, all to do with the job to make sure that I could perform the job well without any problems. Next she asked questions about prior jobs, like what I liked/disliked and if I left in good terms. She really liked me and hired me on the spot. I was called the next day to schedule my first day for training.
I interviewed at Dollar General (Roanoke Rapids, NC)
Interview
The interview process was laid back and I felt comfortable to ask the hiring manager questions. I was respected and understood everything the manager was saying. I went into the back and we sat down and she told me about my position. She made it very clear as to what I had to do. She let me ask my questions that I had written before.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The one thing they asked me was why I wanted the job.
I applied online through the website and the managed called me. I scheduled an interview over the phone. I was taken to the office where she asked me some questions (I don't remember them) and I handed her my resume. She basically hired me there, I think.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Dollar General (Gower, MO) in Aug 2025
Interview
They told me my responsibilities and I was hired. The only question I was asked is "Do you have any questions?" Most definitely the easiest interview of my life. I got hired for showing up.
