      Administrative Interview

      5 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DoorDash

      Interview

I'm not sure where to begin, as I don't want to give away too much detail (or name names), but the one thing I am walking away with as far as the interview was just that it was impossible! Not that it was difficult, or that there were bizarre questions, but just that the employee who was doing the interviewing was BEYOND difficult to understand (and no, it wasn't because of an accent). First, it seems like this person called using a cell phone, which made it hard to hear (and no I am not deaf), but then I felt like I was in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm because the person was, and I am not kidding, a FAST TALKER!! S(he) spoke a mile a minute, combined with being on a cell phone, so it was mumble central. I did the best I could and it took so much out of me because all I wanted was to just laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. S(he) just kept asking questions, and I spent more brain power trying to actually decipher what was being said/asked than actually giving an answer. I basically had to struggle to understand what was being said, guess at what I was being asked, and hope that I was at least answering the Q. Frankly, I am surprised that this person was in charge of interviews bc s(he) has subpar communication skills. I'm still shocked by the experience and I am curious to see if anyone else had an interaction with this person (again, I do not want to give away too many details)...but it was so bad that I'm certain if anyone else had this to talk to this person, they would know exactly what I am talking about. Needless to say, I didn't get the job, though it might have helped if the person I spoke to didn't mumble or talk a mile a minute. (I am kind of leaving some of the other details off because I don't want details traced, sorry!) it really was one of the more bizarre experiences I've had-it was just surreal and borderline funny just because I felt like I was at a huge disadvantage- I mean, how do you ask someone to slow down without things being awkward? lol!
