      Account Executive Interview

      28 Sept 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Duo Security (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2021

      Interview

The process was horrifying. It lasted over 3 months, 7 rounds of interviews. First were 5 conversations with the team, followed by a mock demo pitch, then another meeting with peers.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Explain your selling style? How do you manage your sales territory and pipeline? What do you know about dual factor authentication? What were some objections that you have handled? Can you work as apart of a team?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Duo Security

      Interview

The Interview process was too extended and included a back and uncomfortable dialogue about salary. I was asked to provide my w2 from my current role plus the hiring manager made this a huge point of contention that at one point I was about to walk away.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How much am I making at my current role? Sales strategy, what would be a 30/60/90 for the role.

      Account Executive Interview

      2 Feb 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Duo Security

      Interview

My call with the recruiter was pleasant, she was forthcoming and transparent and truly passionate about the company. She stated that if there wasn't budget heading into the new year for the role, she felt my experience warranted moving budget forward for. I was extremely excited! My 2nd interview was on site and spilled an additional 30 minutes over our time slot as the conversation was flowing and I was receiving positive feedback. I used my "Command of the Message" training throughout and discussed building champions internally and externally and made sure to address the 1 hesitation upfront to be able to move to the next step. We ended the meeting to plan for a call from the recruiter the next day to schedule my interview with the RVP. To my surprise, I got a rejection email from the recruiter the next day instead of the "next step" email I was expecting. The reasons being were not what we discussed in the meeting, and frankly, seemed out of context. I emailed the hiring manager to ask for feedback, and I received no response. Very unprofessional by setting next steps and unable to respond to an email asking how I could do better. I feel I dodged a bullet as this would have been the type of manager who tells you to your face you're doing great and stabs you in the back. In my opinion this is not a reflection on Duo as a company and only the individual.
