      Interview

To those who can't be bothered to read it all, here is the conclusion: If you can: avoid "Discovery Days"! Try and get a classic, "normal style" interview. I took part in a "Discovery Day" which contained an interview. Let's go bit by bit: I applied for the job then I was pretty much immediately given information on where to go and when. Excellent! I arrived at 9:10 (the Tram went way faster than expected). Signed in, sat down. No problem! Listed start time: 9:30; actual start time: 9:45 Listed end time: 11:30; actual end time: 11:15 Not great... If the full time was utilised it would've been better I think. Here's how the "Discovery Day" went: We were taken to a room, in the room a lovely person gave us information about the role, E.ON Next, their career journey and what would be happening during the rest of the day. Cool. After this, some of us were called individually by different people to take SHORT interviews. I've capitalised SHORT because they were exceptionally quick, in a bad way. It felt very rushed. I was only asked 4 questions and one of them was just a quirky joke question. If all they needed was those 4 questions that's great - but when I wanted to ask questions I was only allowed to ask one before being called back into the original room, I was cut off! That sucked. I pushed back a bit, but no - "gotta keep the flow unfortunately". That 15 minute late start and 15 minute early finish could've been put into making interviews longer if needed in my opinion! I later begun asking the questions I had in the group setting rather than the 2:1 interview setting, but again was cut off because "we must finish now". Cool...? At that point I didn't care to fight it, just figured I'll email the questions later. When I went back into the room, we completed a group activity that was a bit nebulous and seemingly just a way to waste time while others were being interviewed. Whatever, it was fine. Then we got a very weird tour around the offices, very little was actually shown in terms of what we might be using and where we might be working, we were basically just shown where people eat and then where a free drinks fridge was and that was it. Tour over. The man giving the tour was not very easy to hear either, you had to be very close to him which was difficult when there's 14 of us! Also, in these group type things you can never really know who is going to be there. There were two very annoying men in the group. Not much to be done about that, but it informs my conclusion stated in the beginning.

      Interview

Interview was a series of competency based questions, I.e giving examples of times you've gone above and beyond for a customer or worked as part of a team etc. Two interviewers were present and took turns asking questions and taking notes. Time was made at the end to ask my own questions.

One on line one way video. One interactive on line interview. Competency based questions. There was also a lot of personal based questions that broke the ice and the two interviewers were very pleasant.
