Very poor interview process overall. The process was:
- initial call with TA partner
- 30 minute interview asking about projects I've worked on
- Take home exercise
- 1 hour technical interview asking about general gen AI concepts
- Final stage in-person interview
The TA partner was extremely unresponsive and unhelpful throughout the process. I constantly had to chase them up to find out what was happening, they seemed to have no idea what the next steps were at each stage, and they made scheduling mistakes.
After spending my entire weekend completing the take home exercise I was ignored for a month with not even an email to say that it had been received. I had to chase the TA partner to find out what was happening.
The interview rounds all seemed pretty similar and it was a bit difficult to prepare for them as I had no information on what to expect from each one or how it would be different from the last. When I asked questions about the role, the responses I got were very vague and so that made it difficult to know what I was potentially getting myself into.
I was actually very interested in this role at the start of the process, but very quickly became disinterested due to how I was treated and the overall experience interviewing. It is the bare minimum to let candidates know the outcome after doing 3 interviews and a take home. The AI lab should be aware that they are actively turning candidates away because of the poor interviewing experience.
After doing the final stage interview, I have not heard anything at all for a month now either and so I assume I have not been successful but who knows. I don't wish to chase any more as I have been offered another job elsewhere.
