The recruiter’s vibes were bad. Also slightly condescending. I was asked to speak about my experience and was in essence told that my current role was different from the position. Mind you, she had my resume up and she was the one who moved me forward for the interview ?? It felt like a humiliation ritual which I honestly don’t care to participate in. Their assessments are a waste of time.

Question 1
I was asked to talk about my experience and asked if I’m willing to work till 7 pm
1 phone interview and 2 virtual interviews. Very easy questions, if you've had experience in sales. They are looking for a reason to say yes to hiring you, not a reason to say no.

Question 1
They said they try to promote you into the senior role within 6 months and then you have to stay in that senior role for at least 1 year before you can move to another position. They asked if I would have a problem staying in the role for that long.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Empower (Denver, CO) in Feb 2026
Interview
I applied for a Senior Marketing Videographer & Editor position and was contacted by a recruiter for an initial conversation. The discussion was positive, and we spent time reviewing my background in sports, corporate, and digital content production. Based on the conversation, I felt my experience aligned well with the role, and the recruiter indicated that he would be in contact regarding next steps.
After the interview, I never received a follow-up, update, or closure on my candidacy. While I understand that hiring priorities can change and that not every candidate will move forward, I was disappointed by the lack of communication after being told I would hear back.
Several months later, I noticed another opportunity at Empower that closely matched my experience and applied. Hoping to reconnect, I reached out to the same recruiter. Rather than receiving a response or conversation about the role, my application was declined shortly afterward. The timing made the experience feel especially discouraging.
The most frustrating part was not being rejected—it was the lack of transparency and communication throughout the process. Candidates invest significant time preparing for interviews, sharing their experience, and engaging with recruiters. A simple update, even if the answer is no, goes a long way.
Overall, the role itself seemed exciting and the initial conversation was positive. However, the communication throughout the process left a negative impression and ultimately affected my perception of Empower as an employer. This was one of the more disappointing candidate experiences I have had in my career.
