Summary: Process started out overall positively, but because they hadn’t clearly defined the role and who it would be reporting to it dragged onto several 3-4hr onsite interviews with at least 8 people.
People, products and teams were great. But ultimately despite having good interviews with multiple stakeholders and general ‘yes’ consensus/verbal offer they cancelled the role last minute because the person they ended up hiring as the manager for the position didn’t feel it was a fit.
Essentially I was asked relevant questions to the role and my experience up until the final interview where I was thrown a curveball of a technical interview (deeper than what the role originally specified) with what was implied to be a culture fit interview.
This was frustrating and they admitted on their end it wasn’t a good process. While they did try to end on a positive note, I think anyone interviewing should be cautioned that they should know the role, hiring manager and direct manager is solid before going onto 3rd or 4th round interviews with them.
