      Technical Writer Interview

      6 Aug 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Verona, WI
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Verona, WI) in Jun 2019

      Interview

The interview process began with me submitting an application through Handshake. I then received a request for a phone interview. The phone interview questions weren't surprising. I also had to take a few skills tests that reminded me of an IQ/SAT test. There was also a "coding" test that was really a test of how well you understand and apply directions. It was definitely the most difficult part of the process, but I also have zero coding experience. About ten days later, I got a request to do an in-person interview at the Epic campus. Epic paid for the entire trip, which was very nice. The night before the interview day, I and a few other applicants had dinner with one of the Epic employees. The day of the interview involved an overview of the company, a tour of the campus, an overview of the position I was applying for, and another test. This second test was quite fun and consisted of prioritizing a series of hypothetical day-to-day tasks and explaining how I'd tackle each task. Finally, there was a standard HR interview. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and I never felt stressed. Due to some weird internal issues, I didn't receive my job offer for 3.5 weeks, but most people hear back within 1-2 weeks.

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Jun 2020

      Interview

I had a phone interview about the position and the company as a whole and then performed an online assessment. The phone interview was very helpful and informative, but the assessment felt wholly unrelated to the position as it was described to me.
