***NO FORMAL INTERVIEW TAKES PLACE FOR THIS POSITION. ***
First you will receive a phone call within 48 hours after applying to setup an interview/orientation date and time. It is normally a group orientation with prospective employees, including both material and package handlers (material handlers work on the ramp/aircraft operations, and package handlers work in the warehouse/sort operations) led by the hiring manager for the location and a trainer or another operations manager (in most cases). You may, however, go through this process alone depending on the location size, and the date and time you selected.
In this orientation you will be given information about the company, discuss your position and starting pay, and do all of your paperwork necessary to be hired on. You will then get a chance to talk with the managers one on one if you like after you take your ID photos. At the end of the orientation they will help your setup a drug testing appointment.
Afterwards, you will receive a follow-up phone call either rejecting your employment (in most cases your either failed the background check or failed your drug test), or accepting your employment. If you are rejected, the process ends after they give you the reason for rejecting you, and you are unable to apply for any FedEx positions for a specified time frame. If accepted, however, an official hire-on meeting will be scheduled where you will sign a few more documents, and be given information on your start day, start time, and location to begin training.
It was low stress and low stakes. I went into it with 12 other people and we joked around a lot with the managers and had a good time. You may come in casual clothes, just be sure you are presentable and professional.
