      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Fortinet (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2021

      Interview

well, there were 2 interviews, technical and one with the hiring manager. the Technical interview took around 90 minutes, but I really enjoyed it. there were 3 skilled engineers, they were friendly. at the beginning of the interview, I was worried and scared :P. but they made it very easy for me. The type of questions was general, but also technical.

      Interview

Overall interview process from start to getting an official response was 10 months.......yes 10 months. Really bad interview process overall consisting of about 5 interviews. 1st - with the hiring manager 2nd - with a few members of the team a bit technical but also a get to know 3rd - was the worst being a lab style interview on top of technical questions with TAC support involving reviewing a wireshark output. Also told on this interview ping was not an available option.....in what world do you restrict engineers to not be able to use such methods for troubleshooting 4th - another interview about SOAR although it was nothing of my background Also a minimum of 2 years working in the professional services role is required by the company before moving in to any other roles. Overall they decided to pass and glad they did because if this is their interview process I can only imagine what the company is like overall.

      Question 1

Review a wireshark output and confirm why a url is not accessible, troubleshoot a DHCP/DNS issue on a virtual fortigate, look at a diagram and recommend what you would change (for example adding HA servers, etc.), how would you respond to a scenario where you are leaving to another client and the client you are leaving needs you right away - let's be honest the politics of management deciding "which client is more important" is what will dictate this decision, no right answer on this

      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Fortinet (Indianapolis, IN) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The interview process consisted of 3 separate interviews, each one about a week apart. 1st interview - spoke to the team manager, basically a project manager; most of the questions were about my background, why I wanted to work for Fortinet, what skills I had, etc. 2nd interview - this was with the team lead and another senior engineer, most technically-focused but mostly softball questions; again, talked about my background, but a little more in depth; really more of a "is he a good fit for the team" interview 3rd interview - got on a Webex with a TAC engineer who quizzed me on simple troubleshooting and basic networking topics; was presented a Windows 7 box that did not have working internet and asked to fix it; two issues with that: the connection was EXTREMELY laggy, and I was not told the entire scope of the scenario, apparently you were allowed to login to any other devices to investigate, which was a bit confusing since I was given no credentials to anything else
